In pursuit of her entrepreneurial vision, Donna Branagan took the reins of a small accountancy practice in Sheffield in 2001. Since then, our firm has flourished, managing over 500 clients annually - a testament to the quality of our financial services and the satisfaction of our clients.

Meet the Team!


Donna embarked on her self-employed career, initially working part-time from a small box bedroom in April 1999. Representing a modest number of around 50 clients at the outset, this number has since surged to well over 500 clients, now served by two offices-a testament to Donna's unwavering dedication.

Her pivotal role within the practice involves collaborating with a diverse clientele, ranging from sole practitioners to SMEs. By engaging closely with clients and gaining an in-depth understanding of their businesses, Donna is adept at offering suggestions for enhanced effectiveness and efficiency. The accounts prepared within the practice serve not only compliance purposes but also function as a proactive tool for business and tax advice.


David became an integral part of the practice in June 2005, and since then, he has played a pivotal role in realising our ambitious growth and development plans. David takes the lead in future planning for the business, ensuring our practice remains abreast of current changes.

His day-to-day responsibilities comprise all aspects of the accountancy services provided here at Branagans. However, David's primary focus over recent years has been the implementation of Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliant software within our practice and ensuring our staff receive the relevant training required.

Additionally, David works closely with clients, aiding them in meeting their MTD responsibilities and ensuring they are prepared for the first phase of HMRC's MTD program.

History of Branagans Accountancy Services


Julia, AAT qualified, joined our practice in May 2016, leveraging the skills honed over 15 years as a finance analyst. Rapidly becoming a highly valued team member, Julia, in her role as an accounts assistant, has acquired expertise in all facets of accounts and tax preparation within the practice. Collaborating with a diverse client base, from sole practitioners to SMEs, she manages client accounts within our accountancy software and ensures seamless compliance with MTD for the submission of VAT figures to HMRC.


Joining our team in June 2018, Gemma swiftly became a key staff member. Recently achieving her AAT qualification, Gemma transitioned from her role as an administrator in an Insolvency practice to further develop her burgeoning accountancy skills. As an accounts assistant in our practice, Gemma manages client records within accountancy software, delivers bookkeeping services, ensures the smooth provision of payroll services, handles CIS submissions and reports, and efficiently manages all administrative duties of the office.


The most recent addition to our team since April 2022, Helen has already become another invaluable member of staff. Responsible for both internal and external administration duties within our office, Helen regularly reports to the practice manager. Actively engaged in the onboarding of new clients, she provides basic training on the use of all Making Tax Digital accountancy software offered to our clients. Helen takes pride in delivering the best possible service to our clients from the first point of contact, ensuring a timely and efficient experience.
