Branagans accountancy services was formed in 2001 by Donna Branagan who has over 30 years experience within the accountancy profession.

Donna decided she wanted to become her own boss and in 2001 took over a small accountancy practice in Sheffield which gave her the start she needed. Since then the business has gone from strength to strength with over 500 clients being managed each year by Branagans mainly through recommendations which we pride ourselves on.

We have a variety of businesses to take care of which enables Branagans to maintain a high level of service.

In 2005 Donna's husband David joined the business to cope with her ever increasing workload.

Meet the Team

DONNA BRANAGAN

Donna began her self-employed career, working from a small box bedroom, on a part time basis, in April 1999.

Acting on behalf of a small number of approximately 50 clients, today that number has grown to well over 500 clients, served by two offices, a testament to Donna's hard work.

Her role within the practice leads her to work with a wide range of clients from sole practitioners to SME's. By being closely involved with clients and obtaining a greater knowledge of their business Donna can provide suggestions for a more effective and efficient business. The accounts prepared within the practice are not only used for compliance purposes but also as a tool for proactive business and tax advice.

DAVID BRANAGAN

David joined the practice in June 2005 and since then he has been pivotal in the fulfilment of our ambitious growth and development plans. David is at the forefront of future planning for the business, ensuring our practice keeps up to date with current changes.

His day to day responsibilities encompass all aspects of the services that are provided here at Branagans.

However, David's key role over the last year has been the management of the implementation of MTD-compliant software within our practice and ensuring our staff receive the relevant training required. David also works closely with clients to assist them in meeting their MTD responsibilities and ensuring they are ready for the first phase of HMRC's MTD programme.


Our History

JULIA LOCKWOOD  

Julia is AAT qualified and joined our practice in May 2016, bringing the skills she has developed over the previous 15 years in her role as finance analyst, she quickly became a highly valued member of our team.

In her role as an account's assistant, Julia has gained experience and become accomplished in all areas of accounts and tax preparation within practice, working with a range of clients from sole practitioner to SME's.

She is responsible for the management of client accounts within our accountancy software and ensures the smooth transition of VAT figures to HMRC in compliance with MTD.


GEMMA MEEK

Gemma joined our team in June 2018 and quickly become a key member of staff.

Having recently gained her AAT qualification, in a very short period, Gemma wanted to move from her role as administrator within an Insolvency practice to develop and enhance the accountancy skills she had already gained.

Gemma's role within our practice as an account's assistant gives her the responsibility of managing clients records within accountancy software, providing book-keeping services and ensuring the smooth provision of payroll services together with CIS submissions and reports. All administrative duties of the office are also taken care of by Gemma in a timely and efficient manner.


HELEN FLETCHER  

Helen became the newest addition to our team in April 2022 and has quickly become another valuable member of staff.

She is responsible for all internal and external administration duties within our office and reports to the practice manager on a regular basis.

Helen is also actively involved in the onboarding of new clients offering them basic training on the use of all Making Tax Digital accountancy software which we provide for all our clients.

Helen prides herself on providing our clients with the best possible service from first point of contact within a timely and efficient manner.
